Why pineapples?

I have always loved pineapples. My mother gave me a pineapple lamp for my first apartment. Ever since then, I enjoy adding pineapples - the sign of hospitality -  into my home.
And now, I can add them to my business!

How did I choose this path?

I knew I had chosen the right path when I was 16, working as a counselor at a Girl Scout camp in Northern Michigan. I was the unit leader of a group of 10-year-old girls. Early on, I noticed there was one young camper who was particularly shy, kept to herself and did not want to join in ANY of the camp activities. During one of our rest periods, I approached her and after talking to her, we discovered what was bothering her. She was afraid of letting the other girls down in the games. She lacked confidence! After encouraging her over the course of a few days, her persona changed drastically and she was active for the rest of the camp. I realized that when I believed in her, this caused her to believe in herself. The change in her really made a difference. She had a positive attitude that helped her to finish camp on a high note. This caring encounter meant so much to her, that she and her mother after the camp session ended drove to my house (45 miles away!) Her mother thanked me for instilling confidence in her daughter that she never had before. "I just want to thank you for believing in my daughter. She had the best experience at camp." I still remember that day like it was yesterday. And...I still have her 5th grade picture! Since then...I have the innate ability to look for a person's strengths (especially women) and hold a light to their gifts. Let me help to shine the light on YOU!
